The Game of Thrones fandom is a vast one, with millions of fans across the world. Some people are so obsessed with the show that they've gone as far as to travel to Spain and Croatia to visit some of the filming locations.

But what makes this fandom so special?

They used some of the most authentic and realistic costumes and clothing like the jon snow costume where they used 100% real leather, but the answer lies in the fact that Game of Thrones has managed to create a truly immersive world for its viewers. While other shows like The Tudors, Borgia, and Vikings have attempted to provide historical context for their stories, Game of Thrones goes one step further by actually borrowing from real-life events.

In fact, while Game of Thrones was largely inspired by the War of the Roses conflict in British history, many of its scenes are directly drawn from real events. Here are some examples:
